Get into Your Six Gun Frame of Mind for the Action Cowboy Championship
#1
PHOENIX - Want to see horseback riders with six-guns blazing in a race to accurately pop balloons while weaving quickly through a series of pylons?

Or visit false-fronted mini-towns and riverboats where six-gun totin' and Winchester-blasting hombres or cowgirls knock down make-believe bad guy steel silhouettes - hopefully in record time without a miss?

Are you the fastest draw in town or would like to be?

Then come to the Winter Range, which is the Single Action Shooters Society (SASS) national championship of cowboy action shooting at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility on Carefree Highway just west of Interstate 17 on March 5-9

It's an annual crowd pleaser. Cowboy action shooting is one of the fastest growing sports in America. And with good reason - it's a hoot to shoot Western style where you can be hi-tech and old fashioned at the same time if you choose.

You can even try your quick hand, literally, at fast-draw shooting. Who knows, you just might be the next quickest draw in the West; or maybe your own neighbor hood.

There will be plenty of vendors on hand selling everything from vintage or replica firearms to period clothing, good food, and toys -- lots of toys (adult, child size and family size).

But don't worry about giving your real name. Most folks here have a moniker, like Butch QueSadilla or the Sun Tea Kid. It's all part of the fun and nostalgia.

For more information, visit www.winterrange.com/. Or just come on out and see for yourself - it's an all-day, every day affair. Don't forget to practice your draw and drawl before coming.
