Chesterfield 3/8/08
#1
I made it out to Chesterfield with some family and friends today and we ended up having a nice day on the ice. The ice is still plenty solid around the edges so there wasn't a need for a plank. Fishing was pretty steady for fish ranging 12-17 inches. We did catch two fish about 18-19 inches and the fish of a day, a nice 23 incher (see attached photo). Most of the fish were caught at fairly shallow depths but we caught fish anywhere from 4-20 feet with the majority being suspended within 5-6 feet below the ice. Various jigs/ice flies worked well but I preferred a white glow in the dark plastic jig tipped with a meal worm. Interestingly, the 23 inch fish was caught at 7 feet with a tiny black feather jig without bait while it was not being jigged. Good luck if anyone gets out.

Nice fish! Welcome to the board catchandeat. I am glad seeing that Chesterfield is coming back. It used to be one of my favorite lakes. I hope to make down their around ice out.

flyguy66,

Thanks for the report. I've not heard of many reports of 18"+ fish being caught at Chesterfield so it is good to here you got into a few.

catchandeat,

Welcome to bigfishtackle!
