Piute 3-12-08
#1
Hit the water about 8:30am. Air temp 40 and overcast. Nobody else around. Water temp 38 and up to 40 by 1pm when I left. Still alot of ice. I started out fishing for smallmouth, drop shots, crankbaits, plastics. Nada. Switched to a silver #2 Mepps spinner and started looking for the bows. I caught a nice 20" bow right off the bat, this was on the east side of the lake across from the ramp. I caught a couple more bows and went over by the ramp where the ice fishing was so good. Four more over there. I played around in the boat for awhile to get some new gas in the motor. A couple of vehicles of old timers had showed up while I was fishing. They decided to park on the ramp. Neither one of them even bothered to ask if I needed them to move to get my boat out. The one guy didn't even close the doors on his car. It's a good thing I was in a pleasant mood today. The bank tanglers were catching a few with the usual night crawlers or power bait. Pretty slow day for Piute. I met a guy as I was leaving that said he looked at BFT sometimes. Never did get his name, nice to meet you though.

Thanks for the report. I haven't heard of anybody catching smallmouths yet so I will wait for the water to warm a bit before I go after them.
