New Toy - Vise
#1
Check out my new toy. This thing is sweet! The old vise I had was part of a packaged beginner fly tying setup and about 5 years old. Tightening the clamp was a pain, it had none of the nice feature this one has and I think it was even a little rusty!

But this Griffen Odyssey w/ cam is awesome! Tied about ten little midges last night and I'm already in love with it.

Anyhow, just wanted to show off my new toy![sly]

heh. Yea, I've got a couple growlers up there, One for Gordon Biersch and one for Roosters in UT, a wine bottle of Gnarley Head and a big bottle of bourbon![blush] Those rosy cheeks aren't from being embarassed either...

RIGHT ON! That is the vise I push for. It is really nice how the cam is right up next to the jaws out of the way. I have the cam on my Renzetti and many a times I have bumped it and dropped the fly at the worse possible time![mad]

Looks like we have a new member for a future FLY SWAP!

That is a cool looking vise. It kind of looks like one of the older sewing machines.[cool]

[center][cool][font "Pristina"][green][size 4]Duh well yes. In fact I won a badge in a competition for starting a fire in less than 5 seconds. It is all in the making of the tinder.[/size][/green][/font][/center]

I used to carry a bic lighter. I could start a fire in 1 second.[Tongue]

its interesting that you mention tinder.. about a month ago I saw a video on break.com that showed that very fine steel wool makes an excellent tinder when trying to start a campfire.. I think they showed it being lit by a bic lighter and by flint sparks..

[font "Pristina"][green][size 4][cool]Well actually we made tinder from very fine shredded bark of a tree and burnt cotton material which one charred like charcoal. That material would glow with one strike of a flint & steel which we blow-ed on to start the bark on fire. You had to ask didn't you. BTW I wasn't suggesting that anyone do a body search of you know who.[shocked] Now are we ready to tie some flies to catch some minnows. Oh yea that is why I was looking at that two wt. rod. No use being over prepared. LOL[/size][/green][/font]

No pockets!???

They didn't have pockets on clothing but they did have 2 small pockets on the old Fishmaster Float Tubes. You were able to fit two 12 oz cans of beer in one and a few hooks, weights and a sandwich in the other.[Tongue]

As soon as you took a couple of bites from the sandwich then you could pull the lighter out of your "Secret" hiding place and store it in the pocket.[laugh]
