Spent six hours on the water today and Nada fish - figured the weather would not be good for fishing and it was not. When we first got there surprisingly it was very nice & we got a little finnesse jigging in before the 2-3 foot rollers started up, marked a lot of fish but no takers. Spent the last 2 hrs trolling to see if we could find a troutskie and they did not want to play either. Anyhow - we got the boat wet and ready to go when serious playtime happens & thankfully the DWR put the docks in today.

That sucks about the fishing but its great that you got your boat out. Its gonna be next weekend before i get mine out at yuba. I have never really had good luck in march at yuba i have always done best starting in april. Once the weather warms a litttle more and stabilizes the fishing will be better.

Scott, we should meet up at Yuba one day this spring. I've caught a lot of fish down there, and wouldn't mind catching a few in my new boat.

Sounds good to me Jon! Water temp was up to 41. If we can get some sunshine this week it should come on up and turn on.

Scott, I've never really done well there pre-spawn. Most of my catching has been in the post spawn period, up until the perch fry get big enough to be a reliable food source for the walleye. So like May-July.
By August it gets tough, there just too much food. I remember fishing there one July and doing very well. In addition, there were tons of doves flying over the narrows. I thought I'd go back on the dove opener, catch a bunch of 'eyes and shoot a limit of doves from the boat. Didn't shoot a single dove or catch a single fish!! Pretty funny.
I wouldn't mind an earlier trip, though. I ordered a new book on radar, and going down will give me a chance to play with it more. I can't really bottom bounce in my new boat, and am limited to trolling with planer boards and cranks. They usually do better in warmer water. I could anchor up for perch, and throw grubs for walleye, though.
