Eastern Sierra
#1
[#800000]If you're planning a fishing trip to the Eastern Sierra, take note: effective immediately, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is inspecting all boats launched onto Crowley Lake for invasive mussels. [/#800000]
[#800000]Imported from Eastern Europe by container ships, quagga and zebra mussels damage water conveyance systems and impact fisheries by disrupting the food web. [/#800000]
[#800000]Boats showing signs of contamination or found to contain any water or debris that could harbor mussels will not be allowed to launch into Crowley Lake[/#800000]
[#800000]LADWP is now inspecting water craft at their Bishop office at 300 Mandich Street, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 3:00 pm by appointment. To make an appointment call 760-873-0409. [/#800000]
[#800000]The Department will also hold inspections at the Vons/Kmart parking lot in Bishop on April 23rd, 24th and 25th from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm. [/#800000]
[#800000]And beginning April 23rd inspections will be held at the South Landing of the Lake, April 23rd 8:00 am -- 5:00 pm; April 24th through the end of the season 7:00 am -- 7:00 pm. [/#800000]
[#800000]All boats are required to enter the lake at the South Landing where an inspection or proof of inspection is mandatory. [/#800000]
[#800000]Only pre-inspected boats will be allowed to enter the gate or launch at Crowley Lake after 7:00 pm on April 25th. [/#800000]
