Summer Schedule for Open Party Boats
#1

Hey there guys,

Little by little, local Southern California landings from Marina Del Mar to Dana Point are shifting gears to enter their summer schedule mode. Every landing is different so, if you're making your first trip of the season out of a landing, make sure you get the current times when both the ticket office opens and the departure of your ride.

Veterans know the routine, but for newbies or half-awake, the following is usually the difference between the Winter and Summer schedules.

In Winter: Offices normally open later, fewer boats go out (often depends on the number of anglers, especially on weekdays), and they may depart one (1) to three (3) hours later than Summer.
In Summer: 3/4 day boats commonly depart at 6 to 6:30am. 1/2 day boats often depart at 6am, return for a second load departing at around 12:30 or 1pm, then in some cases go out or other boats take on a twilight run departing around 6:30pm to 11pm or so.

All day boat schedules operate more on what species is being targeted and how far it'll take to the fishing grounds.

For the twilight trips, again, the number of passengers may determine whether a boat will go or not unless the bite is ON.

Winter or Summer, you'll want to call the landing to make a reservation, thus bettering the odds on going out. Especially in Winter on weekdays.

I watch these schedules closely so if you want to know when the Summer season starts for your landing send me a request here. Note: Some boats have schedules independant of the the landings, so this is something you'll also want to know.

Hey there dh tubinaaron,

I like the Victory very much, whether George or Mike are doing the honors. Are you working on the Victory too?

I haven't gone on that boat for a while and wonder if they NOW honor the 'first in line, first choice at the rail spot'. The last time I was there, for the Victory, the employee selling tickets decided I wasn't going to get the spot I had always ask for and got. No explination, it was just you wanna ride, you take what I give ya. I wasn't drunk, mean, it was a weekday, few people, I was the only guy at the door, etc., etc. I felt I had a right to choose my spot. I haven't been back since because I'm sure I'll get the same treatment again. ha ha

The Victory is another good 3/4 boat that goes out more consistantly when others are at the dock and often go to Catalina.

Hey there dh tubinaaron,

I'd love to come out and fish with ya deckin' for us but as I retired, I have the luxury of being able to go out on the boat of my choice during the week where the loads are light.

On your word, I'll make my reservation and take a long needed and overdue trip with Mike. He can be a pretty strict guy sometimes huh?! ha ha I'm sure you'll be working that ride during the summer, so I'm know there's gonna be a time when I hook up with the dh guys!

Thanks for the office update,

JapanRon
