Foster/Oneida
#1
Ok guys, for those of you who are fishing this area, I hit the water yesterday and totally got skunked. Saw one walley boated on Onieda and that was it. Talked to several who had been fishing it and its slow but they are there off n on. Very dirty and cold water so dont know if this has any thing to do with it or not.

Later in day, hit Foster. Not even a bite. Talked to a local rancher who hits both Foster and Onieda/Bear River and he said that walley had been hitting in the river below the dam on plastic jigs but would say what kind or color. Resevoir had been slow according to him but picking up. He also said bass had been hitting in river but didnt say on what.

As for Foster. He was very discouraged and disappointed. He said it was totally drained last fall (he gets water for his ranch out of Foster) except for the stream running through the middle of the resevior. He said that all pan fish, bass, perch and trout where either taken or died in the draw down. F&G has apparently planted about 10,000 rainbows in there but nothing else from what he knew.

So if your gonna hit Foster for crappie etc. Think twice for now as he told me, it is basically a sterile pond waiting for fish to be added to it, and probably will be a couple years before it is back up to par.

Glendale and Johnson and Lamont all had good water left in them according to this gentleman last year and fishing should be exceptional in all of them this year when it warms up.

Sorry so long winded, but thought that some first hand knowledge on water and fish from these res. would be worht the post.

O yea, its gonna be altleast 2 to 3 weeks before much really gets biting as water is still very cold, but if we get the 70's like they are talking for over a week things could change.
