new to this and need some help
#1
OK so for a week at the end of May and the beginning of June me and some friends will be staying at a lake house in Michigan. The house is on Black Lake and my friend tells me that every time he stays there, there are always people fishing for and catching Walleye on the lake but he has never managed to catch one.

Now we're all from Florida so the fishing up there is alot different then what we're familiar with so I'm seeking some help. My friend does have a boat at his house that we will be using and I've also been told he has good rods and reels. It's my understanding that fishing for Walleye is usually done through trolling but thats pretty much all I know. Any advice and info regarding gear, lures, techniques, rigs, ANYTHING would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

A lot of people (myself included) troll crawler harnesses a foot or two off the bottom. I've found that the yellows and red and white seem to work best in my areas.

Another good way of catching them is to drift fish and bounce a jig just up off the bottom tipped with a minnow or crawler.

When are you going on your trip? Be sure to let us know how it went. If your interested I could send you out a couple crawler harnesses if you want to give it a try.

GOOD LUCK,
Mike

I agree with the other(s) who have responded with good tips. Heres is another thing to think about. Late May and early June are usually peak time for the mayfly hatch. This means "easy meal" for those walleyes. Your presentation, what ever you use, must be SLOW and "easy" for those fish!

Pencil plugs behind a dipsey- diver work well while trolling , I would also give a couple Erie-derie lures a try , black lake is large enough to give them a try .
From what I have found from locals , minnow tipped jiggs and the crawler harnesses out perform everything at the lake .
Good fishing to you !!!!
