Have any of you fished this lake or the river (Beaverhead) below the dam?
My son and I fished there this last week and only caught 2 fish. The weather was very bad, it snowed and the wind blew most of the time.
I was wondering what kind of luck most have at the lake.
The two fish we caught were both very nice. I caught a 22" rainbow. It was the biggest rainbow that I have ever caught. I was thrilled with the nice of the fish but was disappointed with the numbers.

You don't mention what kind of fishing you were doing...flyfishing, trolling, etc...not that it matters really. I primarily fish the south end. Quite a few holes where the fish will hang out. I suggest a fish finder if you don't have one as the key is mapping out the topography of the bottom. There are some BIG fish in there but they are sometimes pretty picky.
As for the Beaverhead, it is great fishing.

We were fishing from the shore. No boat.
We mostly were using jigs under a bobber on the lake. We were fishing near the dam, off of the rocks. We could see lots of fish up in the shallows. I think they were spawning.
While on the river, we used flies trailing behind a bubble.
Thanks for the reply.

No I don't ice fish Clark Canyon. Right now it's 47% full so the ice fishing might be pretty good this year. I'd check with some of the fly shops in Dillon before you go up though.
