Hi guys,

I'm new to the sport of fishing. I'm looking to get set up with my first rod and reel combo, and I was wondering what to look for. I live in Minnesota, so I plan on fishing for crappies, sunfish, walleye and northern pike mostly. Can I purchase a rod that will be versatile enough to fish for all of these species? I would prefer to purchase one rod and reel combo rather than multiples. My budget for this is about $50-$100. Any advice from you guys would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

I would think a 6'6"- 7' med action rod will do you for most of what you want to fish. You'll have to change the line for what species you after. 6-8 for the smaller ones, 12lb for the larger. For begginers a combo outfit is allways cheaper.
