I'm heading to Yuba in a week or so with some scouts. Any suggestions?

[cool][#0000ff]Like a lot of other ponds, Yuba is still getting cold runoff and has not reached a reliable fishing level yet. A few good/lucky anglers have been getting a few walleyes, and some big pike. There are also some perch beginning to show up. But, it is not the fish market that it will be in a month or so.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Hopefully there will be some folks fishing it and reporting over the weekend, to provide more optimistic information. However, there are other places, closer, that would provide more reliable action for the scouts.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Where are you planning to camp/fish? The main campground area should have some fishing along the west side of the swim beach arm. If you are in a boat, go directly across from the ramp and fish the shoreline area where the rocks come down into the water. Also, fish any point with rocks or brush visible.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If you troll, use diving crankbaits in bright colors or drag some nightcrawler rigs. If you are not yet familiar with Yuba it is hard to offer more. It helps if you know the areas and the makeup of the lake. It can be good, but it can also be unfriendly to those who do not know it well. Heck, even the "pros" are getting skunked right now.[/#0000ff]
