Difference between Cats
#1
I was wondering why catfish at Lincoln beach were really lazy and when you reeled them in you didn't even know they were there[frown], but then in the jordan river they continuously pull on your line and when you hook them they really fight [cool].

[cool][#0000ff]That is just your personal observation. Same fish, same battle...depending on water temps and other factors. On different days all fish will act differently if the water temps have dropped or if they are just coming off a spawn or whatever.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have caught plenty of cats all around the lake and there is no difference in any of them.[/#0000ff]

[#008000]You may be confusing a couple of things here. In Utah lake itself, if you find that two fish seem to fight differently, there are many factors that could be involved. As TD mentioned, spawning, prior feeding, fatigue, time of day, time of year, weather pattern, barometric pressure, and a large list of other things could be a factor - including the angler element itself. [#008000]However, it is a well know fact, with all other things being equal, that Catfish in a River environment fight much harder than Catfish in a lake environment. Two reasons for this (among several others), are; One, a river Catfish is working with the current and has that added to its own fighting ability. Two, River catfish actually have to develope more strength to fight the river current day in and day out just to survive, whereas, Catfish in a lake environment do not have current to deal with.
