[size 1]In an effort to help each other get on the fish, we will be adding a series of posts entitled by the type of fishing we are targeting and would like all users who wish to include their "favorite way to catch these fish", "favorite spots" (doesn't have to be exact), "favorite guides for these fish", "tackle tips", "recommended tackle", "beginner tips", "boating techniques" or any other information you feel would be helpful to other anglers targeting this type of fish.

The difference is the striped bass and the white bass. The Hybrids are called Wypers. They are fun to catch and do require some talent to catch.

You can use some of your favorite bass techniques for the color of water that they are playing inh in in........

For Hybrid striped bass, there are many techniques that will work.

Trolling: drag rapalas, cranks, spoons, spinners in your favorite patterns. That will depend on the water clarity, temp and depth.

Casting: you can cast the same things you use for other species of bass and have success. When they boil, use topwater hardbaits in the size and color of the current forage they are feedinging on. These fish, like stripers, tend to roam open water, but they will also display the preferences of white bass and hang out in the rocks or near other structure at certain times of the year(like spring)as well. In some areas, casting jigs and working them horizontally works well. Try white grub or silvery shad looking plastics.

If you can legally, using baits like live/dead shad can work when other things won't.

Good luck - Wipers/hybrids are an exciting fish to catch !
