Causey Res???
#1
My dad, brothers and I are looking to head up to Causey this weekend. No one in the group has been, and I'm looking for a little info from all you knowledgable anglers.

We'll be fishing from the shore. Where's the best part of the lake to fish? I undestand that Causey is for day-only use - where's an optimal place to camp nearby? Any tips?

Many thanks in advance!!!

To get into the fish at Causey you really need to have a boat. I have never really done well from shore. I guess if you have no other choice, I would go down to where the inlet comes in from the scout camp. I have seen people catch them with bait over there.
The best place to fish is in the very back. The fish are stacked up in there right now and fishing is hot. A freind and I landed about 40 fish in about 2 hours. They were all small bows and splake, but pretty fun. The best way to fish causey is with a small boat and trolling motor.

BTW
There are quite a few places to camp up by Causey and people do it all the time.

Welcome to the site Wrigs. Matt is sure right about causey being tough to fish from shore unless your up for a good hike to the back of the lake. There is a good trail on the South side of the lake where the trail head starts, just go across the dam and follow the road to the end. There is a small parking area there where the trail begins. There is also an inlet at the parking area and I've seen people fish all along that eastern shoreline, some times with good success. Again as Matt said there is a lot of camping in the area, the biggest is below the dam just as you leave the pavement but there are many more before you get to the causey turn off. Good luck. WH2

Like others have said. There is good camping in the area. Try to get there as early as you can to get a good site. LIke Mat said, I've caught fish on the bank towards the Scout Camp, also try the spillway. If the river isn't too high, the river can be good too.

if you hike on the skull crack trail to the back arm there are places to shore fish. i used blue blue fox spinners and killed them back there over fathers day. caught big tigers, splake, and rainbow. there are also places to camp back there to. its about a 3-4 mile hike. if you have a canoe its much easier to get back there though.

How big were the tigers you were catching? I have been wondering how big those guys are getting in there.
