What is Shivel?
#1
To tell the truth I'm not a fisher, so I'm fairly unaware of a lot of things regarding the fishing world.

I was wondering if those on here who are experience fishers could help me out.

I feed my dogs a raw diet, and today while I was out, I discovered a bait fish called "Arkansas Shivel". Before I start giving them a fish, I like doing research on such species, however I have not been able to find anything on these guys! Perhaps Shivel is a slang name? if anyone can give me a hand in regards to what this specie of fish is, and where to find information on such a specie that would be great.

I'm hoping shivel, at the price that I can get it will replace the anchovies, smelt, and sardines that I use in their diets that's price is pretty high currently.

thanks in advance!

here it is in a nut shell,

in the wild, wild dogs do eat raw fish, they also die from pest infestations to from eating raw fish. all kinds of worms and other host of pest.

on the market where raw fish is served as edible food, it has been specialy prepaired to kill off pest that can be harmfull or deadly to humans or animals....[Image: sad.gif]

so it is not a good idea to feed raw fish to your pups....
