Bass/'gill report
#1
Was at a scout camp near Monroe last weekend. During a break, I took a half hour and fished a small shallow lake at the camp where there were dozens of spawning bluegill in the shallow water near shore. In less than 2 feet of water, every 3 - 4 feet was an oval cleared of algae down to the gravel. In each oval was a tiny 5 inch bluegill guarding a nest.

I had came prepared for trout, with small inline spinners, so I threw a size 1 mepps and caught 1 bluegill. Next cast I caught a little 7 inch largemouth bass. Had several other followers who wouldn't commit, including one the chased my spinner almost onto the bank, but wouldn't strike.

This was middle of the day, bright sun. Not ideal conditions but fun nonetheless.
