Has anyone been fishing the Teton river near Rexburg? (Either the South Fork of the Teton or just the Teton)
If so, have you guys been catching any fish?
If so, what kind of flies have been working?
Also, does anybody know of some good access spots on the Teton river to fish? (Within an hour or so of Rexburg)
Thanks!

Thanks for the info. I acually caught that big brown trout about 3 years ago on the Warm River. Yeah...it was amazing.
But I actually know exactly where that spot is. It is the only spot I have been fishing lately. I have only caught a couple of fish, but the view is nice and the chance is always there for a big one. I can't wait until the water goes down to explore it more!

Did you get that big brown with a streamer? A fish that size would be amazing on a fly rod.

Na, no streamer or fly rod. (My fly rod would have probably broke) It was on a rapalla....I'm surprised my line didn't break.

How is the water in that section when you float it? Is it calm or rapids? How have you done in the section?
No, I wasn't with fight4not when I caught that brown.
Do you fly fish or bait fish the teton? What do you usually use?

I fished the Teton in the section between Driggs and Tetonia this weekend. Unfortunately, I didn't get to fish for long because a Willow bush stole my fly rod as we were floating by in our raft. The water is quite high and we weren't paying enough attention to where we were going and got a little too close to the bank, and before I could react my rod that was sitting on the side of the raft was yanked out. We pulled over but were unable to get it back because of the high water situation. So if anyone finds an Orvis T3 five weight rod downstream from Bates bridge, I would be overjoyed if they would let me know. I only fished for about 15 minutes, but given the amount and poor clarity of water, I don't think the fishing would have been at all good. There were a few golden stones emerging, but I only saw one fish rise the entire float. Once the water comes down it should pick up considerably.

Ouch! I feel for you I have lost a couple of fly rods in river accidents. Hopefully someone will find it. Did you have your name and number on it?

It depends on the water depth. There are a couple of rapids that are fun to take if your pontoon is big enough. My South Fork II handles them fine. The water changes from fast canyon stretches to wide open lakes about three times. The water right were the canyons pour into the lakes are usually good.
I carry both a fly rod and lure rod. There are times when the fish are rising to dries. I usually use streamer patterns like muddler minnows. If I do not get anything to go on the fly rod then I fish the holes with Rapalas. That is probably why I am not a very good streamer fisherman always falling back on Rapalas.[angelic]
Good Luck

I've been fishing the north and south forks of the teton, and also the main river close to the city of teton about every other day to almost every day. The water is still very high and fishing is very slow. I have been going to practice my fly fishing skills because I am a learning beginner. I normally catch 0-1 fish each trip in about a 2 hour time span.
Are there any areas besides the Teton catching fish?
