fished willard on the 2nd of july from 6-12 a.m boated 14 wipers ranging from 12 to 20 inches, 5 walleye 18 to 23 inches with my dads pesonall best 4-1/2# eye (pictured) and 2 16 inch catfish
Returned to willard on the 3rd and fished from 7:30 to noon boated 10 wipers 10to 19 inches, 3 walleye 16-18 inces and and one small cat.
Both days we never really found them stacked up but still consistent fishing. Lots more walleye showing up that the past years.

That is a fine looking walleye and two great days on the bay. I would have to agree also, the eye catching is the best it has been in years Thanks for sharing. WH2

Sounds like fun. I have never caught a Walleye yet. I plan to target them this year at Starvation or Willard.
I can't wait till Willard fills up again so those cats have some spawning grounds. I imagine they will be "spawn starved" by then![sly]
Unfortunately, Walleyes are a "predator on the prowl" and you have to find them. But I think it would be worth it.
I have a drift sock that slows my inflatable down enough so Walleyes can sneak up and attack whatever I offer them. And at most lakes you get cats too.
Bottom bouncing with a three-way swivel is a total blast cause it seems effective for so many fish, such as Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass. In fact I don't why fishermen don't bottom bounce for bass as often as they should. Bass fishermen tend to be "the bass hang near structure". Yes thats true but there are critical times where trolling slow along the shore or near drop-offs and other structure can catch significant numbers of bass.
Most boats go to fast for Walleye, even though they catch some, still a slower troll to me would increase chances of landing fish.
I caught my first Wiper at Willard slow trolling. And it was right behind my boat. Although Wipers love a fast speed. Slow trolling is to me a powerful way to troll for any fish species.

we caught all these fish at 3mph, pulling cranks not a whole bunch of walleye but, we are not tageting them. I think if you are looking to catch some walleye willard is at its best right now and if you slowed down and bottom bounced you probably would/could catch more than we did, last week my dad went out twice by him self and caught 12 walleye pulling cranks as well(along with a crap load of wiper), again not targeting walleye.
