First time shore fishing in 10 years
#1
Hello all.

I'm thinking of heading to East Canyon; Wanship or the like. The problem is, I've not fished with a spinning rig for 10 years and wistfully miss the days of sitting on the shore with a pole so I thought I'd try it out. From reading reports here it sounds like East Canyon is mostly fishing for brownies..are there trout there? Will I catch anything with Powerbait or should I use crawfish jigs? Big questions, I know...I'm just trying to get back on the bicycle and wondering how easy it'll be.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome aboard!

East canyon has plenty of trout in there! Powerbait or worm and a mallow should get you into some some. There's also a good population of crappie and smallies in there too. [cool]

[Smile] East Canyon is a good pick. It has been well stocked with Rainbow trout. It has been fishing good fishing on the East side from shore. Power bait, Worms, etc.. have been good. Also, you can pick up smallmouth bass with a moving lure such as jigs and spinners. Rocommend fishing early or late, to avoid the heat.
Good Luck!

Thanks all - I'll be sure to post pics of either my triumph or utter failure.
