Jordanelle and Utah Lake report 7/26/08
#1
[cool] I was pretty exhausted from working my two jobs all week, but when Beggin4bass called me up Friday afternoon and invited me fishin' Saturday it took me a mili-second to accept!

Original plan was to go chase smallies all day at Lake X, but we ended up heading out of there at 1:30 or so to go cool off a bit and then go and hit Utah Lake for some serious kittie action in the evening.

Arrived at Jordanelle at 6:15 or so and it was already about 60 degrees when we launched with water temps at around 72 (if I remember correctly). Only caught 5 smallies and a 'bow. It was a little slow. Those were all caught on cranks. Tried drop shotting Gulps but we kept hanging up in the brushy bottom with no fish to show for it.

Arrived at Utah Lake at 5:30 or so to temps of 100. Water temp was 84-85. Fished the East side of the lake in Allen's new boat. The weather went from 100 when we got there to battling a thunderstorm for about an hour (thank goodness for the bimini top, but still got wet), to windy and 74 when we left at 9:00. The nice thing about the thunderstorm is, it sure got rid of the power squadron fast, LOL! Caught 4 cats, all about 5 pounds and 23 inches or so except for an 8 pound daddy cat that Allen hooked up with. We fished with white bass meat and found the fish in about 3-4 feet of water. Would have caught more if not for the thunderstorms and massive W, but still had a blast!

Great times, Allen. As always, it was a pleasure fishin' with ya!

[cool][#0000ff]You were definitely overdue for some fishing, but you put in a full day...on two waters. Now, that is either dedication or addiction...or something worse.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Glad you were able to break free for a "brain broom".[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]One thing about fishing from a boat is that the cats can't hog tie your legs with your line like they do when you are in your float tube. Still remember you whimpering and whining about those nasty kitties beating up on you.[/#0000ff]

[cool] Thanks, Chuck. Looks like you guys did well Friday at Lake X. You can probably guess RIGHT exactly where we were at U.L. Great spot! Too bad the weather didn't fully cooperate or we would have caught more kitties, but it was still a great time and I can't wait to cook up some kittie krispies in a couple days...
