Scofield fishing

I am taking my Dad to Scofield and none of us have ever fished it. we will be fishing from shore and would like to catch tiger trout if at all possible. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to go or what to use. Any information whould me most helpful, thanks.

Scofeild could be slow right now, but try either side of the dam, or the rocky shoreline along the hyway past the dam. However if your not having any luck, head through the town of scofeild and over to huntington res (pretty much all tigers) It's about 15-20 miles from scofeild. You may also want to hit electric lake in the evening ( it's about half way between scofeild and huntington res. It also has tigers in it,though just recently introduced and not much of a strong hold yet. Good Luck

Minnows and perhaps crawlers would be your best bet for bait, but like has already been posted it might be slow fishing, especially from the shore. Your best bet would be to fish early or late. You might catch a few on Huntington fishing late casting a fly behind a bubble. Your best bet would be to fish Electric Lake and just fish for the cutts and the occasional rainbow and even less frequent tiger trout.

Would you say i'd have better luck if I tried Huntington from shore? Thanks for the much needed wisdom!

well if your realy wanting to catch a tiger trout i would have to to say yeah.. you have a better shot at catching one at huntington than scofield thats for sure.. earlyer in the season some nice tigers were comeing out of Scofield.. but have not heard of much but planter bow's the last 3 or 4 weeks.. and even then it has not been real fast fishing.. i would say stop at E-lake and get ya some minnows then go to huntington.. but the minnows at E-lake are in deep water right now and dont seem to want to be traped.. tryed every thing i know for two days up there for 2 minnows in 5 traps.. so if you dont have red side shinners get ya some and take some worms to..

hey Lonnie just so ya know.. E-lake is more then slow this year! and the tigers in there are 6 to 8 inchs. i have cought 1 in 8 trips up and that was trolling. there is a new batch of fingerlings tigers up in the river so i'm thinking the DWR must have planted some more in there not to long ago.. Thanks fuzzy, I'm looking forward to years ahead as those tigers grow. I think they will do well in e-lake. I have'nt caught one there yet but I did see one about 12-13 inches caught there this year. I did hit high country lakes this week end though (snow,blue, and petes hole) small fish(and lots of 8-11" tigers at petes hole) all were caught on a fly and a bubble , but the best thing was high temps were arround 70, may not have even got that warm. I will post a full report with pics a little later , when I'm not to lazy to go down stairs and get my camera. (may be a while he! he!)
