TubeN2 quote: If fishmaster would have stuck it out like some of the other companies, I'm sure they would have made some of the most awesome and reputable V shaped tubes and Pontoons.
Maybe, but doubtful. The car tire is very reliable, but heavy.
Remember that Leigh Pontoons originally had a modified car tire and they weighed a TON.
Plus a circle is about as safe and strong as it gets, but now modify that circle to a "u" or a "V" plus even a pontoon and you now have seams/welds.
People want packability and that means light, plus the ability to pump them up easier. I used a bicycle pump on my old Caddis, but seems a couple of pumps with the double actions on todays boats is all you need.
Just people looking for new and improved/better things.
I remember in my Caddis thinking, Man, if I just sat a little higher so my elbows aren't resting on the boat, and man, I wish I didn't have to CLIMB into this...well, so did allot of other people think that , so companies answered the request.
The old saying, you can catch a fish with a string and pole, so why a $600. rod? Comfort!
