Strawberry 8/17

Well, after arriving to 29* temps and frost on some of the grass and windows, we launched to heavy fog banks and cold at about 6:30 am. We headed to the Chickens to find some kokes but only found a 20" cutt that decided to foul hook itself and strip off 245' of line from my rod before giving up to the Ugly Stick. We fished that area for an hour or so and decided after no luck to head over to the narrows.
With high anticipation to get into the kokes, we fished our hearts out and tried everything and everywhere we could think of burning 17 gallons of gas and boating only 1 koke and about a dozen carp. It warmed up to a blistering 89* by the time we left at 3 pm and a little westerly breeze. Not sure what was wrong, we marked huge schools of fish in certain areas but they were not interested. Had a trip planned for the 31st, but i will spend my money elsewhere now. Time to store the boat i guess. My new favorite fish just got hard to catch.[mad]

There was significant const. in Daniels Canyon coming back and 20 minute delays both directions. Not sure how long it will last but be prepared for a sit in the truck.

P.S. Saw probably 30 bowhunters in various locals and not a one had a buck in the bag. I guess they are not amongst the 15% who fill their archery tags. In fact, i have only heard through the vine of 1 buck being killed yet.[shocked]

That lake has a way of humbling people doesn't it?
My cousin and got shellacked in a bad way the last 3 trips we were there (about a month ago) and decided to take a break from Da'Berry for a while.
I'm actually quite ready to get back up there this weekend!

I fished PaliSades Res. in Idaho for Kokes this Sunday with the same results as you...Threw everything at 'em, and not one fish. A couple of weeks ago we did good on them in the same spots, marked a ton of fish....nothing. Maybe the high pressure turns them off ??

[:/] That sucks when you drive all the way up only to find the bites off.. My neighbor was there too last sat an sun and ended up with 5 cutts an 0 kokes.. I fished causey on saturday from 12 to 730 pm in search of the kokes..and experienced the same .. I tried the things you mentioned and everything else in the toon to no avail.. Fish on the finder all day in all 3 arms but no takers.. There was plenty of fisherman goin home empty handed and i was one of em.. [shocked]Fish On..FISHAMANIAC..

Brody, it doesn't surprise me that for as much as that body of water gets fished, and as many fish that get caught, once in a while the bite turns 'off'. And still, it's probably Utah's best fishery.

Haven't been there in years, and can't wait to get back one of these days!

me and my dad went up on friday morning with similar results as you guys(FULL MOON) on the water at 6am we boated 12 trout within the first 45 minutes before the sun came up and when the sun hit water it SHUT OFF, ended up catching only 10 more trout in 5 more hours of fishing, that is the exact same results i had on the last full moon at strawberry, I think i am going to stay away from there on or around full moons. Maybe there is some rhyme to berry kokes, they hate full moons.

Brody,

That sucks that the Koke's weren't cooperating, I have yet to head to the narrows to try and get some since I have been to busy catching the Cutts'. I was up there on Sat. and man was it cold. We boated 30 Cutts' in about 6 hrs. but it was a little slow for us, I was thinking maybe that cold front had something to do with it. I am heading back up in the morning and hopefully it's a little better.
