Actually the Kelly Green "Irish Spring" would be #2. Black and white always comes through.

The red definitely has it's place for sure. In fact that was the only color that worked at Strawberry. Just these to colors are my go to's, then vary the colors from there.

Honestly....no, rivers small is the key. I do very well with 22 and smaller on tailwaters, stillwaters, more 16.
