Bad News for the S.E. Louisiana Fisherman
#1
Bad News for freshwater fisherman. They are being clobbered on two fronts now. Not only do you have to contend with high winds but now the Mississippi and Atchafalia Rivers are rising and rising fast with no end in sight.

The Mississippi at Baton Rouge is over 21 feet and I have heard predictions of 42 feet for a crest. The atchafalia at Butte Larose is now up to 10.35!

Although this stage isn't unfishable the fishing has been slowing and rising water is never an indicator of great fishing and things are only looking worse for the future river levels.

But your options aren't totally gone. The local rivers in the Florida Parishes are at good levels and aren't as adversly affected by the winds.

If that doesn't suit your fancy then False River is another good bet. Plenty of bream at the piers if you just hit the right ones. And bass are going strong.

Haven't heard of any large bass but the numbers are good. Crank baits are producing and you can never go wrong with dragging plastics worms along the bottom.
