Dove opener
#1
Well, it was WAAAAAY slow to start the opener. Rain, hail, and strong wind. Myself, Theekillerbee, and Orvy hunted my spot in west syracuse. We managed to shoot a measly 7 birds in 3 hours. Then a strong storm pushed through so we decided to go to town and get some grub. We also stopped at wally world and bought some more dovecoys.
We got back out there and waited out the last little bit of rain and then it warmed up and the sun came out. The birds still didn't want to move so it was a long time in between flights. About 6 pm or so, somebody flipped the switch and they started moving in droves. We ended up with our limits for the day and had opportunities on 3 ECD's but they took a poundin' and kept on truckin'. All in all it was an ok day but not the best opener ever. Back at it again tonight.[cool]

Me and dad went just over the border into weston idaho where my uncle has a dairy farm. We didn't even hunt till about 1pm due to weather and the cafe calling our name. seeing i have recently had surgery on my ACL i threw out a half dozen decoys and a mojo dove in corner of a cut wheat field sat my but down and sent my dad and uncle walking, over the next hour only 6 doves decoyed and fell. My dad and uncle returned with about the same. We ate again waited a rain storm out and for the evening hunt we set up some bails of straw around a wheel line motor and it wasn't long before we finished up. even got a coon just after dark. I like shooting at em alot more than eating them so i am gonna try and get out with the .410 tonight.
