Red Fleet, Kayote II and the Yak Attack
#1
Keeping with the family tradition, I let my boy (Kayote II) stay home from school to yak fish at Red Fleet today. I'm sure he learned more on the water than in the classroom. We have a deal, as long as he gets straight A's, he can stay home any time he wishes. Me, I just stay home when I get a wild hair LMAO. Water temp was 60, air temp mid 70's, partly cloudy and breezy. It was a wide open rainbow trout (billy bass) bite. Beautiful day to be on the water. It became summer in the Basin overnight. The largemouth were tougher, but we caught many. Kayote II completely outfished the old man, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Bass were taking crayfish jigs on the points. Rainbows were taking cranks and spinners. It was so nice, I didn't wear my waders or wetsuit. I then proceeded to sunburn the heck out of my legs. Will be taking off next week to have the melanomas excised. I wouldn't trade a day like that with my son for anything in the world. Life is very very good. Please forgive the excessive pics, but I just had to share.

Good Fishing, Kayote

Hey Kayote,
Nice report. Isn't Red Fleet beautiful. I just love fishing there mostly for the scenery. On the last pic the water looked brown. Were you up by the inlet and is there much runoff? How is the water level over there.
May fluffy never over turn your yak and steal your tackle.

Hi Tincanfsh,

The water is really low at Red Fleet. The brown water is up the Brush Creek inflow. You can get about halfway up the canyon before you hit the creek. Your yak method was working on the bass. Kayote II humbled me with the catching. It was a little windy, so we didn't fish as much as normal. I sent you a pm about a super good buy on a rod and reel spin combo with Bass Pro. You should seriously consider it, it is an amazing buy. The rod alone is worth $100, and the combo is $40 with that nice reel. BTW I think I'll let Fluffy have that tackle box because I wouldn't want to tackle her, uh it, um...... whatever. LMAO. Later bro
