9/20 Idaho Bear Hunt
#1
Headed up to Idaho on friday night. Early saturday morning we were unloading to go check the first bait, one dog jumped the box and tore outta there a couple hundred yards straight for the bait. Within seconds he was bawling and we let the other dogs head out. Within 5 minutes they were bouncin' treed! Well the bear jumped the first tree after a few minutes and tore outta there halfway up the mountain. Me and Tyson were the only in-shape chasers and we got up to the dogs in about 30 minutes. We snuck in and found a nice 250 lb chocolate black bear 25 up. We radioed and gave a heads up to the others and they made their way up about 45 minutes later. Decided it was a shooter and the rest is history! It was a blast. Shot a bunch of grouse on the pack out too! Sunday morning was tough because of all the rain...the last bait to check had been hit but it was cold and the dogs were having a hard time keepin it, we didn't give them enough chance and had to pull them to get home.
