New Black Powder Load

My brother came up with a new load by accident on the muzzle loader hunt. Thursday morning he missed a buck so we decided to see if his gun was on or not. Nothing wrong with the gun but it fouls quickly so he decided to clean it. Well the cleaning jag got stuck and he couldn't pull it out. I took the gun and he was pulling on the cleaning rod. A couple of pulls and it came out. Only problem was none of the brass came out just the rod.

Only thing we could think of was to put powder through the nipple hole and see if he could shoot it out. Packed as much powder as we could in the gun and got ready to shoot. He decided he needed a way to tell if it came out so I put a block of wood on a log and told him to shoot that. I then stepped behind the truck in case something went wrong so we would have a driver.

Gun went boom, smoke as usuall and wood flying everywhere. Found a perfect imprint of the jag in the wood but couldn't find the jag. Well about five minutes later I found the jag about 30ft from the block of wood.

Wouldn't want to try and hunt with something like that but at 15ft looked pretty deadly on the wood.

I had a good laugh through the whole thing even though my brother didn't seem to find it funny until it was all done.[cool]

Different brands but we both shoot a 54 cal Hawken. Works out nice if you happen to leave something home.

After we found his cleaning jag we used it with my ram rod to clean the gun. If we hadn't found the jag we still would have been alright as I still had mine.
