Sinking fly line

I have used a Scientific Anglers Stillwater (slime line) for years at Henrys Lake. The line casts well with a slow sink rate for shallow lakes. I need to replace the line and have heard that the Cortland clear Camo Intermediate line is good if not better. I also understand that Rio has a similar line. Any opinion on the Cortland or Rio line would be appreciated.

Cortland clear camo NO question over the rio aqualux. I do ALL of my fishing at henrys and I would go with the clear camo. You can't go wrong.

DITTO what Everet said. Clear camo is the BOMB! It stays soft even in cooler temps,...something the clear Orvis did NOT do, plus it doesn't seem to curl as much.

But I have to through out the idea of a TYPE II also.

Yes I agree with Flygoddess on the type two thing as well. I carry both those lines out with me and they seem to cover just about every situation.

How do you'll fish this clear camo? I have had it for a few years and never had much success with it. Its seems to curl up and doesn't seem like it sinks much. Any suggestions on how to fish it and what flies are good with it?

Its not designed to sink very deep at all and doesn't work when the fish want the fly down deep. Once you start to use it more it wont be as stiff. Just fish it with any fly you would normally use.

Thanks for your suggestions on the Cortland clear camo fly line. I also use other sinking lines at Henrys Lake, including a type III for flies I fish with a faster retrieve or in deeper water. When I fish Hebgen from a float tube, I have had good luck with a type III uniform sink.

Rex, all sinking line will eventually hit the bottom. There has been MANY times I use Intermediate but I count down. The different sinking lines will all hit bottom, just some before others.

I did buy a TYPE VII and my Depth Charge because in some lakes, the big boys are on the bottom while the littler guys are shallower. I want to get past the littler guys quick and down to the big guys.
In a pinch, I have used one of those 5' sink leaders in a type IV and attached it to my Type II and it actually worked.
