I read this article on KSL, I've read about the idea a while back and it seems it's still up in the air (pun intended). I can't imagine it would affect the ecosystem that much unless 'they' are worried about stirring up the mud. I imagine the june sucker program has their say but it would make for some great structure in the lake.
Legacy Highway was fought tooth and nail and yet, it was built...

[#000000]Probably will end up getting built. 2, 3 more decasdes and who knows what the population in Utah Valley will be. The new "wealthy" areas I think will be west of the lake. A bridge would probably be a big attraction too.[/#000000]

There is a freeway already planned and surveyed just south of Thanksgiving Point that will connect I-15 to Redwood road. It is scheduled to be complete by 2010.
This new freeway - Named the Mountain West Corridor will then snake around the mountain toward Eagle Mountain and points south.
The Bridge will be pipe dream [:/]

Just let enough money get moved in on the west side of Utah Lake & watch that "pipe dream" come true.
