Utah Lake Commission Open House
#1
[#000000]I attended the Utah Lake Commission Open House tonight at Willow Creek Junior High School in Lehi (I found out about the date and time from TubeDude's Utah Lake, Sportsman's Post and link). [/#000000]
[#000000][/#000000]
[#000000]Overall I am impressed with the plan they have put together. I learned much about what the lake could be and how we could get it there. [/#000000]
[#000000][/#000000]
[#000000]The presentation I saw showed the plan consists of five major elements. [/#000000]

[ul][li][#000000]Land Use and Shoreline Protection[/#000000][/li][li][#000000]Transportation[/#000000][/li][li][#000000]Recreation[/#000000][/li][li][#000000]Natural Resources[/#000000][/li][li][#000000]Public Infrastructure[/#000000][/li][/ul][#000000][/#000000]
[#000000]The plan has many details and is quite lengthy so anyone can read about it on the commission's website:[/#000000]

[#000000]There are zone maps for every element in the plane that I saw which can also be seen online. [/#000000]
[#000000][/#000000]
[#000000]What I like best is their proposal to build a trail along the shoreline in some segments and that the commission has established certain sensitive areas of the lake. [/#000000]
[#000000][/#000000]
[#000000]The major focus of the group is to coordinate what needs to be done with the counties, cities, and municipalities bordering the lake. It has no authority or regulatory power over anything. Its "power" comes from the moral influence of its 20 members from the various state and federal agencies. [/#000000]
[#000000][/#000000]
[#000000]To me this is a very progressive plan if cooperation and funding can be found. However, as everyone knows this is going to be the challenge. [/#000000]
