First smallie

Got my first smallie on Sunday at Pineview. I just finally learned how to jig and what do I catch that smallie on, a worm. We were fishing in rather shallow water just letting the kids catch some carp and cats, and we hooked into a total of 3 smallies. I didn't think they came into shallow water like that with no cover at all. We did get alot of carp also.The kids love getting those carp.My 4 year old grandaughter is getting good at reeling them in on 6lb test.

let that be a lesson to you, don't "forget" the basics of fishing. The more you "know" about fishing the more you need to rely on everything you've learned. Broad knowledge base make for better days on the water.
