Major Threats Face Southern California Anglers
#1
I just received a letter from Tom Raftican of United Anglers of Southern California regarding Marine Protection Areas (MPAs). This is a critical issue to the success of sportfishing clubs and anglers now and in the upcoming years. I urge all clubs to get involved as soon as possible.
The body of the letter contains information regarding the massive closures coming to Southern California. To quote one portion of the letter "the DFG has proposed taking most major sportfishing areas from the Southern California Bight and from the southern Channel Islands and placing them in no take or highly restrictive reserves"
Please visit the UASC site for more info. http://www.unitedanglers.com/
There is one piece missing from the letter on the site that I am including in this post.

********************************************************************
URGENT!!!!!!!! UASC has set a special meeting with the Department of Fish and Game on Friday August 17. We encourage participation of all UASC affiliate members and in fact all fishing clubs and organizations. It is vitally important that we hear form your club - each president or representative should contact Tom Raftican at the United Anglers office (714) 840-0227. If officers are unavailable please make sure a represenative of the club contacts us.
************************************************************************
http://www.unitedanglers.com/

Thanks in advance for getting your organization involved in this issue.
Jim Allen, President
High Desert Saltwater Anglers
