Thanks, I don't know where to go this weekend. I might head up to Island park, sounds like they are still catching good numbers up there. Most of the fish I caught up there were planters and didn't taste all that good. I really want to catch a limit of red meated kokes. I'm craving some good fried fish.

Go to the back side of Big Elk and fish in the middle about 1/2 to 3/4's the way up to the creek. The koke swarm is around, and if you wait long enough you will find them(or they will find you). I have run into them on several occasions, but never really fished for them specifically. They are nice fish(bigger than Ririe), but not as big as the Island Park kokes we have caught. Good luck if you go!

Thanks for the info. How do you go about catching Kokes in Island Park? I've never heard of anybody catching them ice fishing up there.

That is a great question! Unfortunately, I don't have an answer. I have not done much ice fishing at Island park. I have caught a lot of very nice 2-3 lb kokes trolling on the west end in the spring time, so you may want to start there if you have a snow machine. Those kokes in the spring time have a meat that is so pink, its almost purple. Very good eating. I'm sorry I can't help further.

Good ice, bad edge usual. There have been people fishing it for the last two weeks.

In my limited experience it seems like kokes like anything pink. If you are in a big school doesn't matter what you have, you don't even need to bait your hook.

I used to catch kokes in Island Park before the new millennium just out from the dam. It has been a while since I have heard of anyone catching them in any numbers lately.
