Yuba Ice Sunday Morning
#1
I woke this morning and couldn't fall back asleep so I decided sunday morning coffee would best be served watchin the sunrise over Yuba. I hit PR with wheeler in tow (wishful thinking) My trailer has 7ft removable ramps so I was thinkin I would cross the waters and at least venture out by foot for a bit. Broke off the ledge a couple times at a couple places down the shoreline before deciding this was a bad idea.

The waters vary from 6ft wide at the ramp to just a foot or so in some places further down the beach. The edges are all soft and "mealy" they break apart under body weight.

Anyway, no one else on the ice or in the lot... so i watched the sun come up a bit, listened to a book on cd for a time while I enjoyed my morning beverage and finally headed out...

I think we will require a few days in the blue before it's good to go again. My $.02

Thanks for the information i dont think its going to freeze anytime soon . More rain and snow mix coming then the temps not going to drop to low. I am hoping it freezes over because i need to go get me some perch.

I was there yesterday and the ice was bad then, when you crossed a crack you could see water in it and some you could drop a lure down...

I hope the wind blows the ice off so we can use the boats...[Wink][fishin]

Jordanelle has had open water at the dam end of the lake for most of the winter but the park will not plow the PWC ramp like they have in the past....

If they would I would be up there catching bass and having fun...One day of ice is more then plenty for me...

I have an auger and have used more gas in it this year then the last two combined, the next time you want to hit Yuba let me know and I'll bring the auger....

But give it a day or two to ice up again....[Wink][crazy][fishin]

We must have just missed each other. I had the same idea. I went down the ramp, put on my waders and climbed onto the thick stuff. When I put weight on the ice, water gushed up through the cracks. I decided I didn't need to fish there that bad.

I ended up at Fishlake and got to see ugly ice firsthand!

That aint cool.. I have a plow .. we could volunteer to get the launch area cleaned up [Wink] I wonder if that would count toward dedicated hunter hours [Smile]

I told them I would plow it for them if I could use their plow and they still said no...

Give them a call and see what they say, if they let you plow it we can go fishing after...

I made a couple calls today... Everyone I talked to said not only no but *&%$ no [Wink]

To many liability issues, I did hear they get a lot of offers though...

In past years they kept it plowed as long as the lake was ice free by the PWC ramp...
