Deer Creek (Report) 5-30
#1
Fished Deer Creek today with my son. We hit the water early 6:00am to miss the heat. It was a great day the walleye and smallies were ready ,willing and able. The water temp was 68 degrees at the north end of the lake where we went after the fish. We limited out by 12:00pm. We only had one fish over 20 and mostr in the 14-18" range.

We were lindy rigging with a floating jig with a trailer. The fish are in 6 to 12' of water on the north side of the island to the Provo inlet. The smallmouth seem to be on the weed edge and we learned that fast on our first pass I caught my largest smallie ever, 20" and 5.25 lbs. It was a rush. In all we got 5 smallies , 1 perch and 12 walleye. Several boats limited out early. Some were trolling carnks, some jigging most pulling worm harnesses. One of my best fishing days ever being on the water watching the sun rise as we cruise to our area and sharing it with my son. Not to mention I earned bragging rights till the next trip.

Fair warning the walleye floatilla is in full force after 9:00am I counted 17 boats working the north end. At least the skiers stayed out of the area.
