Decent Anchor
#1
Hi - Wow, its been awhile since I posted here. Now the snow is almost gone, ive developed a serious case of PF. (Pescatorial Fever). Anyways when I took my tube out last summer I noticed it took a lot of work to keep it in place. I was fishing a small lake, with a little chop on the water. Does this anchor work -

Its only 1 lb and im not sure if its enough to hold me in place. I normally fish ponds on a spring fed creek and small lakes. I like that its small and will fit easily in the pockets though.

I have one of those anchors. It will depend on the bottom, but they do an okay job. Unfortunately, you might have to just try it. They are nice in that they are small and light.
I use several links of 3" chain on a carabiner now. It works fantastic on any bottom but it is heavy.

I have one too, but I've only tried it once, but in any decent wind it's not too effective.

It makes a good bottom/depth finder with some knots of yarn on the line though! Smile

The only place i think that thing would do a good job is in a river with a rocky bottom. but in a lake with a soft bottom I dont think it would be worth the powder to blow it to hell. In a tube i dont think you would need as much weight as i do in a toon. So i think a 5 or 6lb mushroom anchor will do the job just fine for you. I know the one i got on my toon is about 15lb and it works fine.

I use that 3lb, 4 fluke, red Kwik Tek fold up anchor. That works well, but I'm in a 'toon as well.

After using other anchors, this is the anchor my wife and I rely on now. It holds to pretty much any bottom ... really well and the wind can do as it may. Beware of using this one on rivers ... you may wind up having to cut away.[Image: beaten.gif]

Sorry ... I didn't clarify IPF. The Fluke is the same anchor we use. Best tube/toon anchor out there if you're serious about staying put.
