Wierd ice fishing experience
#1
Fished East Canyon last Saturday for a couple hours. I was kicking it with my son about 10 feet from my rod when the thing takes a dive and I think its going down the hole. Just at that moment, I notice a 12 inch rainbow trout flopping 1/2 way out of the hole on the ice and then it slides back into the water. Of course I'm running for my rod as all this is going down and when I get there to pick it up I've missed the fish. As I'm waiting to see if the fish comes back I notice the 1" red and white bobber[Image: sleepy.gif] I am using as a strike indicator is missing. All I can figure is the fish came up to eat the bobber and either got away with it or pulled it under the ice before ejecting it.

Has anyone ever had a fish come up to feed on a piece of bait floating on the top of a hole in the ice? Does this surprise anyone?

Never heard of anything like that before. Thats crazy. So did you catch any fish or did you just have the that crazy fish try to eat your bobber.

I have had the small tigers at Schofield follow my bait right out of the hole!

He was latched on the bobber for sure at first and then he flopped back down the hole. (I use a slip loop on the bobber so it will come off when I start playing a fish). By the time I grabbed the rod I got one more little nibble from what I assume was the same fish going for my bait. I did not end up catching the fish. Very weird
