Kokanee at night?
#1
There is probably a thread on this subject already, but I could not find anything relevant with the forum search. I have read online that there are places that kokanee fishing in the dark is very popular. I've read that a lantern hung over the side of the boat will bring them close... and then you just jig for them. Summer time of course. Can anyone confirm anything like this from first hand experience. It makes sense.

My second question is whether this can be done through the ice for kokanee? I have drilled a hole 1/2 way through the ice before, and then set the lantern down in the hole. It lights up the area really good. Anyone had any luck with the kokes in the dark, through the ice?

in texas we use to use a flood light on a boat for crappie and sea trout which both run in schools like kokanies do so i think it would probly work if you are in the right area.

don't know about utah, but artifical light in wyoming is illegal. summer time is great for koks, but in the winter catching any at all is outstanding

The proclamation says that lights are okay... unless spear fishing. I am going to give it a try later this week.
