Carl Guffey, Chickamauga, bass, 2/21/2009, lowdrag
#1
I finally had a chance to come down and fish the Chick today. Launched from Grasshopper after the tournament guys, parking was tough to say the least. Had a good day it took a while to pattern the fish, fished a lot of main channel early with no success using 1/2 traps, spinnerbaits and jerk baits. Moved into the creeks with the arrival of the wind. Started having some success late in the day crankin' shad raps and chunkin' shakey heads, best five keepers would go 11 to 12 lbs., best fish a 3 lb 4 oz. spot and two largemouths @ 3 lbs. ea. Not a great day but given the conditions no complaints. On the ride back from possum creek the boat cleared the motor out of the water 19 times and we speared two big waves, the largest wave ripped the depth finder off the bow and deposited it behind lowdrag leaving 8 inches of water in the bottom of the boat. I was amazed that it did not wash the unit overboard.
