LAKE MEAD *** Report ***
#1
Southern Nevada
May 28, 2003

LAKE MEAD

Fishing appears to have slowed throughout the lake as anglers have been reporting to the Nevada Division of Wildlife (NDOW) that they are having difficulty catching largemouth and striped bass.

Over the weekend boaters had sporadic success for stripers in the Boulder Basin, but there was no clear pattern for catching the fish. Shore fishing has been very slow with only a few stripers coming from Hemenway Harbor and a small number of channel catfish from Las Vegas Bay.

Boaters who have been fishing in coves near Echo Bay in the Overton Arm have had some success for largemouth bass. Stripers and channel catfish have been caught at night by boaters near Fish Island in the Overton Arm.

Most anglers are using cut anchovies to catch stripers and channel catfish. Nightcrawlers have also been productive bait for catfish.
