New take on Shaky
#1
I have to admit that I've changed my mind about my shaky head set-up. I switched to baitcasting gear. I will explain why...

First off, shaky head is great in situations like cold fronts and right after big storms when bites are few and far between. During these times, bass strike subtly instead of inhaling the lure like a raging demon. For this reason, I switched over to baitcasting gear. When I fish a baitcaster, I keep my left index finger under the line. With my finger on the line, I can immediately feel the slightest bumps.

So I bought a 7'2" Cumara in Medium/Extra Fast and a Core 100MG for just about the lightest gear possible (lighter translates to more sensitive). My first outing with this set-up, I caught 7 fish in 8 casts on a 1/4 oz Picasso head and a 5" Reaction Innovations Flirt worm. Its not as easy to "shake" the lure for me with the casting rod but I picked up a few milliseconds of reaction time and I can feel the strike a lot better.
