Striper fishing on the river - need advice
#1
Hey all I need a little help if you can spare it. The wife and I have never fished for striper but intend to this year. I would love some advice on the gear we would need.
Scenario: River/estuary fishing from shore and a small craft.
Fishing experience: 35yrs
Stiper experience: 0
Expected Target area: Delaware and Hudson rivers
Preferred baits: artificial first, live and dead second
Budget: forget it. What do you use.

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated!

My personal favorites for that area and that type of fishing are

1. Megabait live jig-----Anchovy color 2oz

2. Krocodile with white bucktail----Chrome 11/2oz

3. Kastmaster--------Chrome with blue stripe 1 1/2oz

Here in Ct. we use white or squid color 10" sluggos on top. White crankbait like rap-x in cold water. Tube&worm in the warmer months. Next is to snag bunger in the am then live line them. That seems to work the best. Good luck and enter our contest when you get your first big one.[Wink]
