No complaints about Utah State Parks

[cool][#0000ff]TubeBabe and I are travelling and visiting family and friends down in Arizona right now. We went to look at Saguaro Lake, one of our former favorite fishing holes. Went down to our old launch spot, thinking we would just use the iron ranger to deposit our fee. No iron ranger. Signs all over threatening ticket and/or towing without pass being displayed. We wanted to hike around the lake trail to look over some old favorite spots, and we didn't want a ticket or a tow, so we drove out and around to the main marina area. Drove up to the ranger shack and told the guy we wanted to buy a day pass. He almost spit at us and sneered "You have to buy your pass down in Mesa (45 minutes away). We haven't sold passes on the lake for over 3 years.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I couldn't believe it. I know that there have to be a lot of people who decide to go visit the lake...with or without a boat...who knownothing of that silly pass thing. That's gotta warp a lotta folks who might never go back...me included.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We moved back to Utah just over 5 years ago and I can't believe all of the changes on all of our old fishing holes. They say "You can never go back." Man, whoever "they" are...are really right.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Almost glad we didn't bring tubes and tackle. Almost. Not sure we could handle fishing in 80 degree temps again.[/#0000ff]

Wow I thought Utah was bad having to pay 7 bucks getting into Oasis, but I'll be thankful for the parks now!

I moved to Utah a little over a year ago from Phoenix.......probably the best decision my wife and I have ever made. Great place to visit.....but the fishing opportunities are few and far between (6 million people). If you want to search for a few eyes, check out Show Low lake and PM me if you need a few hot spots.

My best advice, come back to Utah asap! Smile

[cool][#0000ff]Thanks, but no help needed. I lived and fished all over Arizona for about 20 years...including Showlow. I caught plenty of fish, of all species, but I moved back to Utah in 2004...FOR GOOD.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Did not bring fishing gear on this trip. Why bring fancy silverware when you are visiting McDonalds? I will be back on Utah waters next week and I can get serious again.[/#0000ff]
