Planer Boards
#1
Has anyone made their own planer boards? I'm making some and I'm looking for ideas.
I want them to collapse for easy storage.

Here is a guy who has made some. They look on the large side, but maybe you can get some ideas:

Dubob made this post with plans for home made planer boards a year or so ago. I built the larger boards to plan specs this winter. I haven't fished them extensively yet, but I did throw them out of the boat and run a line behind them on UL a few weeks ago and the tracked AWSOME. I'm pumped with how they looked in the water. I made them with threaded rod and nylock nuts and don't plan to break them down, but if you used lock washers and carried a 7/16" wrench with you you could break them both down in a matter of minutes. Dubob was dead on with his estimation of cost. I picked up all of my material for just uner $40. The biggest issue I had in making the board was the double bevel cut, but once you figure out how to make both angle cuts you are in business.

If another $20 bucks won’t kill ya, just get two Church’s Walleye Boards of either (stbd or port) side and bolt’em together staggered with 15” of width. That way you don’t have to worry about cutting and angle cuts.

Question- and I qualify this by saying I haven't tried planers yet but intend to begin experimenting come summer Wiper fishing season- why not just use the Walleye planer as designed? I had researched those and decided they looked like the best choice but stacking them?

Howcome?
