Kokanee Trolls/Dodgers sizes?
#1
Can you troll kokanne trolls (gang trolls)(cowbells) whatever they're called with a squidtype bait behind them for both Lake Trout and Kokannees? Will rainbows hit that stuff also?

Also, what is the best way to rig a dodger and then a spoon or spinner behind it? Main line to swivel, then dodger, then swivel then what? Or do I have it all wrong?

Here's a Dodgers and Flashers tech report from Lure Jenson.

Based on the species you're asking about, sounds like Flaming Gorge action, so you may want to check out Lure Jenson's Flaming Gorge tech bulletin too.

I don't know what the best way is, however I can tell you what Works for me. I only target Kokes but catch a few rainbow and lakers as well. I like fishing with light gear. I use a about 15' of 8lb line, a ball bearing swivel, a #00 silver hammered dodger, another swivel, and 18" of 4 lb leader, and a final swivel in front of a kokanee king or wedding ring tipped with about 1/4" of night crawler. I hook a medium release on the braided line just in front of the leader. Using the release on the braided line seems to give more consistant releases.

I don't particularly like using gang trolls because of the weight. and I don't like lead lines for the same reason. My buddy uses lead line and a two spoon troll and seems to catch a few more fish than I do, however this system always catches fish for me and fighting a koke on is a lot funner than fighting a koke, troll and lead line.

I have a friend that hooks a large gang troll to the cannon ball and then puts his release on the troll. This works ok however you have to let your line out a little more so that the troll works better.

good luck
