Boise River 4-17 and 4-18
#1
So earlier this week my mom asked me to drive my sister to Boise for one of her friends birthday parties. I figured since the river flows are so high back home I wouldn't be missing much in the fishing department. I was a little disappointed that I had to miss the fly fishing show though.

Yesterday, after making the drive in the morning, I got to the river around 12:30 or so. I only caught three trout, but two of them were over 14" so they were pretty fun to catch. I also caught 10 whitefish. The fishing wasn't as hot as last time but it wasn't slow by any means.

Today I didn't get out to the river until 6:00 PM. I decided while I was in town I would go and buy a new heavier weight rod. I have never owned anything over a 6 wt, so I decided I would go with and 8 wt. The entire setup was a good price and I am happy with the rod. Tonight I caught one nice brown, somewhere between 16"-17", real healthy and fat. Gave me a really good run on my new rod. I also caught a bunch more whitefish.

Overall I had another fun couple of days on the Boise River. No monsters this time, but still a lot of fun.

The rod was regularly $99, I paid $85, and the reel was regularly $56, I think I paid $42. Plus the cost of line and backing. Its a Cortland. Nothing expensive or fancy but I have always loved Cortland rods. Really good rods for the money.
