CCSM and his his son in law Jordan and his (Jordan's) father James came to the house at 8:30 today to see if we could get on some fish. We fished the creek most all morning and there was a bit of a breeze so I figured that we would stay in the creek to learn to shoot the docks. Everybody was catching fish with the technique, the wind seemed to slow down and we made the decision to go to the main lake and check it out. We found out that the wind was manageable and that they average size was better out there. We fished panfish assasins on 1/32 oz jigs and ended up keeping and filleting 33 crappie. We ended up letting go the bigger of the crappie towards the end of the day to be sure that they would continue to reproduce and I could see that we had lots of fish to fillet already. We caught well over 2 non-keepers to keepers, so I figure that we may have caught 70-100 crappie today. The weather was beautiful and my boat functioned well even with all the bodies in the boat. I am so glad that I upgraded to my new to me boat last fall as it would have been super cramped in the old boat. We had many crappie over 13 inches and one that was just shy of 15 inches. It was a great day to be out there! Thanks for all of the great fellowship out there guys! We ended up with a gallon freezer bag so full that I didn't think that I could get it to zip shut. Close to 10lbs of fillets. Jordan took a pic on his phone of the biggest crappie and I think that he will post it later.
